LR Equestrian, LLC was begun March 8, 2010 with the help and support of my parents Kimberly and Helmut von Schweinitz.

I have been involved with horses my whole life. In 2008 I moved to The Fork Stables, in Norwood, NC and was introduced to the world of eventing. Rebecca Howard (CAN) took me from just a casual competitor, to a full time eventer. Two years of riding with an International four star rider, and learning the ins and outs of horsemanship has molded me into the rider I am today. My dream to compete competitively at the upper levels of Eventing now seems very possible.

On February 28th 2010, I experienced a life changing event. I knew riding horses was challenging and falls happen, but the possible danger of my sport became a reality for me this Sunday. Rebecca was competing at Pine Top Advanced Horse Trails and ended up being one of 15 falls and one of the four riders taken away in an ambulance (she was later air-lifted to Charlotte Medical Center). Rebecca was on her lovely horse, Roquefort (who was 3rd at Fair Hill International at the CCI** this past fall) when on the 2nd to last fence they had a rotational fall. Rebecca spent a week in trauma with10 ribs broken in multiple places, both clavicles broken and a punctured lung.

Watching any rider fall can be horrifying, but watching someone I am so close to and who is such an accomplished competitor really hit home for me.  In recent years, there has been so much work and progress towards safty in our sport, air vest for riders is just an example.  Rebecca should have been wearing an air vest and with it her injuries would have siginificantly reduced.  My goal after Rebecca's fall was to represent an air vest that would provide the best possiable protection and be affordable to as many riders as possiable.  Through the GREAT help and guidance of event rider Doug Payne, I am so excited to offer an awarding winning air vest that has the highest safty testing on the market.  I now wear my Hit-Air vest in all competitions and schooling.  I also feel so much better having my friends protected by Hit-Air.
